About

Hi All! My name is Emily and I am a 29 year old engineer in the aviation industry and a financial coach after founding Fierbird Finance in mid 2019. In my spare time, I teach and train in krav maga, which is an Israeli military style of self defense. I very strongly believe that everyone, especially women, should be able to hold their own in terms of both physical abilities and finances.

My lovely wife as of late 2017 (It’s going great. Thanks for asking), Kayla, is 28, working as a nanny, and currently starting her own side hustle. I’m really excited to see where this goes for her and will keep you all up to date on her greatness.

Together we are striving to achieve Financial independence (FI) through a combination of 401K, Roth IRAs, HSA, Taxable accounts and rental properties. We’re saving a bit over 50% of our income currently and are planning that I will be able to move on from the 9-5 to be a financial coach full time by 40. Depending on how things go, we can pull the trigger before then, but we’ll have to wait and see.

I’m a firm believer that FI is a completely realistic goal, despite the naysayers and will go through the math to prove it. I started this site to document our journey and show that it is not only a possibility but, that most anyone can do it if they set their mind to it. I’ve also recently added my financial coaching services page to this site so maybe I can personally help you see that you can reach FI too!

So, come along with us as we try to figure it out and have a lot of fun along the way. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy!
